How To Use Pure Essential Oils For Your Baby
Nature’s essential oils can provide wonderful support for new-born babies. They can help calm the baby, provide safe sleep and even rid the atmosphere or airborne germs. A new-born is very precious and very sensitive and responds to sounds, smells and touch.
Colic:
Vaporise – 1 drop of Mandarin for 1 hour in baby’s room, well away from cot.
Or dispense one drop of Roman Chamomile on a cotton ball and place in cot at opposite end of baby’s head.
Common Cold:
Vaporise – 1 drop of Eucalyptus for 1 hour in baby’s room, well away from cot.
Or add 1 drop of Sandalwood Australian and 1 drop of Roman Chamomile into a dish of boiling water and place directly under baby’s cot. This will disperse the molecules slowly and safely.
For babies under 3 weeks old with a severe cold, seek medical advice.
Cradle Cup:
Massage – Add 1 drop of Lavender to 20ml of Sweet Almond oil. Gently massage the scalp using fingertips, avoiding the fontanel.
Fretful Babies:
Vaporise – 1 drop of Mandarin or 1 drop of Roman Chamomile for 1 hour in baby’s room, well away from cot.
Mild Teething:
Massage – Add 1 drop of Lavender to 20ml of Sweet Almond oil. Massage 2 drops only of the blend around the baby’s exterior jaw and up the neck area.
Soften Baby’s Skin:
Massage – Blend 30ml Sweet Almond oil, 10 drops Jojoba and 5 drops of Rosehip. Warm a few drops between fingers and gently massage baby.
In Essence recommends not using pure essential oils topically for the first 6 weeks.
